Gov. Jerry Brown, governor of California, signed the California K-12 Transgender Bill into law on the afternoon of October 7, 2013, allowing the state’s transgender public school students to decide which bathrooms they want use and whether they participate in male or female sports.

According to Fox News, the new law “would cover the state’s 6.2 million elementary and high school kids in public schools.”

Advocates of homosexuality say that the law will help lower the bullying rates against transgender students. The families of transgender students have been fighting with school districts around the nation over what restrooms and locker rooms their children can use, and demanding that their children must have the right to shower with the opposite-sex.

“Now, every transgender student in California will be able to get up in the morning knowing that when they go to school as their authentic self they will have the same fair chance at success as their classmates,” said Masen Davis, Executive Director of Transgender Law Center.

Though California is the first state to pass a law of this extreme, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington and Colorado have all passed legislation designed to defend transgendered pupils.
There is still a major opposition.

Opponents of the bill say permitting students of one gender to use facilities intended for the members of the opposite gender could invade the other students’ privacy.
Randy Thomasson, of savecalifornia.com, says the law would “damage” kids.

“This radical bill warps the gender expectations of children by forcing all California public schools to permit biological boys in girls restrooms, showers, clubs and on girls sports teams and biological girls in boys restrooms, showers, clubs and sports teams,” Thomasson said. “This is insanity.”

Due to the passage of this damaging and immoral piece of legislation, you are going to see many straight individuals claim to be transgender just to get in the facilities of the opposite sex. Many students’ privacy is going to be violated, just to appease the people who participate in the queer lifestyle. Plus, you are going to see sexual assault increase, thus increasing a more severe type of bullying.

The California transgender bill was backed by an alliance of organizations including the following: Transgender Law Center, Gay-Straight Alliance Network, Gender Spectrum, Equality California, ACLU of California, National Center for Lesbian Rights and statewide teacher and parent organizations.
